Remote Sensing

What is Remote Sensing?

This is a method which eases the whole process of acquisition of data by using satellites, airplanes, drones to capture data on a wide range easily, quickly and accurately. It’s a process that helps in detecting and monitoring the physical characteristics of an area by measuring its reflected and emitted radiation at a distance (typically from satellite or aircraft). Special cameras collect remotely sensed images.

M&A provides and generates map data and location based information with either Raster formats or Vector formats options. We specialize in capturing natural and manmade features for comprehensive GIS solutions or for individual projects. Our techniques and detailed project management assure consistent results and accurate deliverables. These are all the planimetric features in a 3D environment, maintaining X.Y and Z values for each individual point, line and polygon.

There are different types of remote sensing depending on the type of analaysis.

The acronyms RADAR stands for RAdio Detection And Ranging. These are devices that use infra-red-light projection to construct metric data from objects they are scanning. Laser scanners gather plane data using a laser beam pointed at the surface and then convert that data into a point cloud. RADAR is a cone shaped signal fanning out from the source. It uses longer microwave frequencies which have lower resolution but the ability to collect signals with reduced impact from environmental obstructions

LiDAR is one of the most important tools in the commercial drone industry. LiDAR  is typically a collimated light beam with minimal divergence over long distances from the transmitter, basically LiDAR is a remote sensing technology: sensors that are mounted to drones send a pulse from a laser to collect measurements, which can then be used to create very precise models (including 3D models) and maps of objects and environments.. LIDAR uses lightwave frequencies which have a shorter wavelength enhancing the capability of collecting data with high precision
